Most people know that truck accidents are much more horrific than car accidents. When truck accidents do occur, victims are more likely to suffer serious injuries due to the size and weight of a tractor-trailer. A truck accident that happened in South Georgia left two drivers with injuries.
The collision occurred on a late December morning and involved a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer. Police say that the driver of the pickup truck did not remain in his lane, resulting in the pickup colliding with the tractor-trailer. This resulted in the semi truck jackknifing and coming to a rest in the woods, and the pickup also ended up off the highway. Medics flew the driver of the pickup to a medical facility with critical injuries.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to another hospital where he was treated for a broken knee. Traffic was stopped for several hours at the scene, and the road did not reopen until later that afternoon. The pickup-truck driver could face charges pending further investigation into the accident.
Truck accidents are frightening for most people and rightfully so. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered a broken knee and will likely suffer both financially and physically. He may be able to file a personal injury claim in a Georgia civil court against the pickup-truck driver, which could result in compensation being awarded if evidence presented demonstrates the pickup-truck driver was negligent. Victims of similar accidents may find that the evidence gathered during police investigations may aid them as they pursue compensation for their suffering.
