When drivers fail to heed traffic signs and signals, car accidents often occur. A recent three-car accident in North Georgia is just one such accident. Unfortunately, like so many other car accidents in intersections, this one ended with a fatality.
Police say that a woman ran a stop sign at an intersection and crashed into a man's vehicle. The woman's vehicle spun in a clockwise direction and came to a stop in the roadway. The impact caused the man's vehicle to overturn before coming to rest on the shoulder. Another driver, who was headed in the southbound direction, crashed into the woman's vehicle that was sitting in the roadway and it was pushed into the paved median. The third vehicle came to a stop on a nearby access road.
Medics transported three of the individuals involved in the collision to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. No details were released concerning their conditions. The man in the car that overturned died at the scene of the accident. Authorities are expected to file charges after the investigation is complete.
When car accidents such as this one cause someone to lose his or her life, it typically leaves devastation for families. Regardless of whether charges are filed, the surviving family members of the deceased man may decide to file a wrongful death claim against the allegedly negligent driver in pursuit of compensation for losses suffered as a result of this accident. A Georgia civil court may award compensation if the family members can prove that the woman's negligence contributed to their loved one's death.
